Even a day in the life of a particle physicist can be filled with moments of pure fantasy and child-like enthusiasm. The protagonist oscillates between everyday reality and journeys into the world of imagination and invention, through which he introduces us to the very essence of his field of study and the practical background. By playful means we go from the tiniest particles to the inside of complex machines and mechanisms which allow us to look upon the building blocks of the world. Going from Ancient Greece to globally interconnected human communities and multi-member scientific teams, we might just find that to discover the most important particles of our lives we don’t need a microscope or even a university diploma.
