A family of five moves into a beautiful, sprawling dream home. One problem: it's cursed, having caused the deaths of the previous family to occupy it, leaving only one survivor (Jacki Weaver). The family's moody 18-year-old son and his mysterious new neighbor inadvertently awaken something in the house while also violently shaking the many skeletons in the many closets. An annoying, boring and unoriginal waste of time with very ineffective scares. Clichés alternate with boredom and vice versa. It's watchable, thanks to the likable leading couple, but I'd definitely be embarrassed to recommend it unless you're a 15 year old teenager. 45%

Haunt is an unoriginal horror film that simply tries to capitalize on the demand for supernatural horrors, or at least that's how it appears. However, it's not a film that continues the tradition of movies like Sinister, Mama, or The Conjuring. Just be prepared for a story where the creators attempted to give some depth to the characters, but couldn't quite steer the atmosphere in Haunt.
