Before this show, I hadn’t heard of Kida Khodr Ramadan. The premise intrigued me, especially with Ricky Gervais involved, so I jumped right in. These fictional takes with real actors in real settings can ruffle some feathers, but that’s part of the charm — just ask Ricky. German Genius isn’t bad at all. It’s got that dry, sharp humor filled with absurdities that poke fun at modern times. Sometimes it hits the mark, sometimes not so much. It’s watchable, but don’t expect to be rolling on the floor laughing. Think more along the lines of The Office — dry as a Martini with an olive. I’m definitely planning to check out 4 Blocks that made Kida famous.
