Engels Excellent and simple western. Again it's about revenge, what else. It is set in a beautiful western environment. The exteriors are just great in this genre. Kirk Douglas is absolutely tragic hero here, though brilliantly played. I enjoyed the film from beginning to end, with the beginning and end being top-notch from a filmmaker's perspective, while the middle slowly but intensively increases the tension. Additionally, I must say that Carolyn James, as the female side of this western, proved that she really knew how to act in her time. I noticed that female roles in westerns are rather detrimental, but not in her case. ()

Engels The base is sufficiently stimulating and good, even more than good. Two long-term friends who respect each other, but also two men, who unwillingly need to face each other because of a burden of family responsibility. The problem is that the base is not developed in any way, it lacks any suspense, and overall it's more smooth than anything else, and top of that the inconsistent music is really annoying. What would really help is "applying the spaghetti approach" and I would be more than happy to have a dirty, escalated remake that is based more on psychology. There is no doubt that it has a large potential. ()

Engels A slightly above-average western, which includes all the classic genre clichés, such as a fearless lone hero against overwhelming enemies, naturally equipped with incredibly precise aim, strong fists, and a tough gaze. However, thanks to the cast and a decent screenplay, it remains a fully functional affair even today. An interesting aspect is the racial motif in the story (an Indian can be killed because they are not considered a human being) because it was precisely at the turn of the 50s and 60s when an uncompromising fight for equality and an end to racial segregation of the black population occurred. Overall impression: 60%. ()
