Looking at the strapping aide Demetrius, one might think it’s about orientation, but this is about faith. Forgive him, for he did not know what he was doing... The pioneer of Cinemascope technology, despite a few dull moments, is quite an engaging tale. It captivates with the resemblance of a young Burton to Franco Nero, the hidden face of the carpenter from Galilee, and the soaring finale where, through an encephalitic fool, they walk toward the kingdom of heaven.
