My first encounter with the director, and it’s certainly an unorthodox story. An inflatable doll, tired of serving just one purpose, comes to life and starts expressing emotions. Du-na Bae delivers a stunning performance, turning the film into a beautiful, poetic piece. How often do you find a movie where an inflatable doll seeks emotions while the audience struggles to keep theirs in check? It’s a very touching film, showcasing Hirokazu Kore'eda’s mastery of blending poetry and realism, much like Menzel did in his time.
