Engels Whoever didn’t dream about something similar when they were seventeen must have been living their lives wrong. Only in this country you need to replace the sea with a fishpond. The result could still be… similar. ()

Engels This film is quite conflicting from my point of view. I had heard and read positive reviews about it before, so I was determined and had to check it out. And what I got was not at all what I expected. I was quite disappointed with the two lead actors – Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna – they seemed quite obnoxious and their acting seemed quite far-fetched at times. But Maribel Verdú was at her best - her performance immediately got my attention. The whole story is built up quite steadily and the script is colourful and spicy. And the occasional spoken interventions in the plot added originality to the film. Well, it won't be my favourite film, but in terms of quality, it's above average in many aspects. ()

Engels And Your Mother Too is a beautifully open and honest film about friendship, sex and life, with unusually authentic, enjoyable and properly steamy eroticism, shockingly great acting performances, especially by the two young guys, and a generally brilliant portrayal of the characters’ psychology. I found the sad epilogue a bit contradictory – on the one hand, it added a deeper dimension to what had happened before (and deeply affected me), but on the other hand, it wasn’t necessary for the great impression that the film makes and basically only upset its positive mood and lust for life.
