White settlers are attacked and murdered by the notorious "Vulture Gang" in Llano Estacado, a border area to New Mexico and Texas. The blame is put on the Indians of Shoshone tribe. Stewart Granger in action for the first time and immediately falling on his faith. Nothing against his acting abilities, but my love for the source material simply prevails. The dubbing of Old Surehand never sat well with me, and when even Lex Barker can't save it, you're in trouble. The first bad Karel May film, unfortunately foreshadowing a multi-year decline.

I don't remember much about this movie, but I'm sure I've seen it. It caught my attention, especially the action scenes in the second part, which are good, thanks to the fairly well-shot sequences, the action itself, and the setting. Götz George is excellent even before he became Shimanski, and the cheerful Surehand is a great contrast to Winnetou, who is inherently colder.
