Wanneer de steenrijke hedgefondsmanager James King wegens fraude wordt veroordeeld tot een lange gevangenisstraf in San Quentin, krijgt hij van de rechter dertig dagen de tijd om zijn zaakjes te regelen. Wanhopig wendt hij zich tot Darnell Lewis om hem voor te bereiden op het leven achter de tralies. Maar James blijkt een vergissing gemaakt te hebben, Darnell is namelijk de hardwerkende eigenaar van een eigen bedrijfje, die nog nooit een bekeuring heeft gehad, laat staan een gevangenisstraf. Samen doen de twee mannen alles om James te harden voor het gevangenisleven en ontdekken al doende dat ze van heel veel dingen een verkeerd beeld hebben, ook van elkaar. (Warner Bros. Pictures)

Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell make for a good duo. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I was this happy about a pair of guys, one of whom is black and the other white. It might have been a little bit too crazy at times, which is exactly something you can expect with those two dorks, but on the other hand, it met my expectations and even though a few of the scenes were a bit weaker, I overall had a good time watching Get Hard.

A pleasant comedy to entertain but without any higher ambitions. Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart are great, the gags are also decent, I laughed out loud a few times, but towards the end the film runs out of breath, so in the end only a strong three stars. Definitely one of the better flicks this year. 65%

When you say Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, I guess there's no need to say more. A classic silly, yet so natural comedy full of black humour, it loses a bit of its zest in the second half and is not as good as in the first half, but still manages to tickle the diaphragm all the time. Whoever was expecting something different from this duo and rated it two stars or less, I don't understand what they were doing here. For me, fine entertainment for an afternoon, but it's a fact that the goals could have been a bit higher.

A classic contemporary comedy. It has a pretty good idea, with a lot of exaggerated facial expressions and overacting, which is pretty much expected from Ferrell and Hart, and in the end, just an unsatisfying bonding of the two characters. The potential that was there clearly seems untapped to me, which I think is quite a problem. There's really very little humor in it.
