Mahóka kókó no rettósei - Season 3

These three arcs combined into one season entertained me more than the second season's singular storyline. However, the overall pace felt quite fast, making it seem like time was just flying by. As a result, some events, like the school tournament, got significantly less screen time compared to the first season and were essentially just a backdrop. None of the arcs managed to pull me out of the occasional sense of boredom I felt while watching. The series maintains its usual vibe: Tatsuya remains the unshakeable cool guy, Miyuki is still the adorable sister constantly worried about her brother, and there are plenty of side characters, with even more new ones, making it harder for me to keep track of who’s who. My tastes have evolved over the years, and I have to admit, Aunt Maya is probably the sexiest character in the show despite being quite the bitch. But that’s a bit off-topic, as is my planned joke about the third season's biggest shocker being — SPOILER — the outcome of incest! END OF SPOILER. The beginning of the thirteenth episode amused my cynical side quite a bit. Despite everything, the third season of "Irregular" is visually appealing, with good moments, intriguing magical battles, and some well-executed plot twists. My overall impression fluctuated between a 6/10 and a 7/10 (similarly to the previous season, but knock off a point for both numbers), and it ultimately settled closer to a six. Still, I’m looking forward to the announced movie sequel. According to a friend who’s read the manga, the best part is yet to come — let’s hope he’s right. Season 3 – 6.4/10. (28.06.2024)
