Recensie van Necrotongue voor deze serie (11)

Season 1 (2016) (S01)

Engels What a disappointment. I spent the last four episodes looking forward to the end. I was mostly bored except for the occasional good moment. I was increasingly searching in vain for logic and sense in the plot. I liked both of the previous seasons much better, the only thing I really liked was the lead actor, because Mike Colter really looked unstoppable. Too bad about the script. ()

Moment of Truth (2016) (S01E01)

Engels The first episode didn't really win me over. Luke seems to be finding his way, and I feel the same about the script. It didn't hold my attention completely, and I found myself thinking about other things. So far, it hasn't fully captured my interest. ()

Who's Gonna Take the Weight? (2016) (S01E03)

Engels Finally, the dull moments disappeared. The plot moves faster and stopped stagnating. However, after seeing Luke handle a house full of gunmen, I'm even more confused why he couldn't stop the shootout in the barbershop in the previous episode when there was only one shooter. I get that it was necessary for the story, but I'm not sure if plot holes are worth it. ()

Step in the Arena (2016) (S01E04)

Engels Episode four takes a detour into the past, giving us some backstory. Sure, the whole "innocent hero, preferably a cop, ends up in prison where everyone’s out to get him and even kills his friend" theme is a bit cliché. But hey, it still works. ()

Just to Get a Rep (2016) (S01E05)

Engels Episode five slowed things down a bit and brought back some of that stagnation. There's way too much talking, which I wouldn't mind if Tarantino wrote it. The constant "Hey, nigga!" "You, nigga!" is getting pretty annoying. ()

Manifest (2016) (S01E07)

Engels Same old boring storyline. They try to paint the main villain as a tragic figure who could’ve been a Mozart or even a president if it weren't for his crappy family. I’m supposed to feel sorry, but all I’m doing is yawning. ()

Blowin' Up the Spot (2016) (S01E08)

Engels I'm still not satisfied. Anyone who's seen a zombie movie knows you shoot the head. Twice. Plus, the guy who was practically indestructible a moment ago is now getting beat down like a scarecrow. Doesn't make sense. ()

DWYCK (2016) (S01E09)

Engels I was bored to tears. It feels like the creators only had material for twelve episodes but stretched it to thirteen by throwing in this filler. Even the psychologist seemed like he was just passing through! ()

Now You're Mine (2016) (S01E11)

Engels I'll give the writers this much — they've got a sense of humor. Who knew arterial bleeding could be so chill? Just wait it out until you've lost enough blood, and you'll be back to calm and collected. Two more episodes to go. Hang in there! ()

Soliloquy of Chaos (2016) (S01E12)

Engels Episode twelve started off promising but quickly went downhill, leaving me stuck at a two-star rating. First, there was the cringe-worthy Method Man promo, and then the finale with Magneto’s grand entrance. Who's showing up next? Snoop Dogg? ()

You Know My Steez (2016) (S01E13)

Engels Message received. Yes, I get it — there's going to be a second season. But why make the finale just a teaser? It's like they decided they messed up so badly that a proper finale wasn't worth the effort. Brilliant... ()
