Recently divorced and reeling, Edgar (Thomas Lennon) moves back home with his parents and gets a job working at the local comic book shop with his friend, Markowitz (Nelson Franklin). When Edgar finds a nefarious looking but highly collectable Toulon puppet in his deceased brother’s room, he decides to sell the doll for some much-needed cash. Travelling with Markowitz and girl-next-door Ashley (Jenny Pellicer) to a convention celebrating the 30-year anniversary of the Toulon murders, Edgar hopes to make a quick sale. All hell breaks loose however when a strange force animates all the puppets at the convention and sends them on a bloody killing spree. (Monster Pictures)

Engels Zahler’s name attached to the screenplay teased, the names of two clumsy Swedes in the direction scared. In the end, the film neither satisfied nor did it disgust me. It works quite well in the gore scenes, but after some of the foreign reviews, I was expecting something crazier. The jokes here and there are fun, but the incompetent directing duo are unfortunately unable to sell those moments and the film breaks down into single funny microsequences and cotton wool filling, which the viewer always has to endure. I don’t have a fully positive experience from this. ()
