Engels Well, it's definitely better than The Amputee and Six Figures Getting Sick. You can get a nice introduction to the alphabet here, even in English. Mixing animation and live-action was a big mistake here, because the animation part just spoils it. But the ending with the (half-dead?) girl babbling the alphabet was good, disgusting and depressing. ()

Engels As artistically conceived darkness, The Alphabet is a perfect bedtime story for your kids if you want them to have a lifelong fear of the alphabet and anything associated with it. ()

Engels The Alphabet is one of David Lynch's very first films, his student film. Here, he combines animation with live-action, utilizing various filmmaking techniques. It's too much for one film. Moreover, here you'll find out whether this author's style resonates with you or not. His imagination is unique, and even here he shows that the dark side of human beings and their bodies resonate with him, as well as the industrial essence of the modern world, which appears much more prominently in his film Eraserhead.
