What We Do in the Shadows is a documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of three vampires who've "lived" together for hundreds of years. In Staten Island. The self-appointed leader of the group is "Nandor The Relentless", a great warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire. Then there's the British vampire "Laszlo" – a bit of a rogue and a dandy and a fop, he might say. And then there's "Nadja": the seductress, the temptress, the vampiric Bonnie to Laszlo's Clyde. After an unexpected visit from their dark lord and leader, "Baron Afanas," the vampires are reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in Staten Island over a hundred years ago – total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination? (HBO Europe)

What We Do in the Shadows (2019) 

Engels Just as excellent as the eponymous film. Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi chose actors who were simply perfect for those vampires. In addition, I was happy about the appearance of Matt Berry, who enjoyed his role just as much as the one in the legendary IT Crowd. Watching a documentary from the world of contemporary vampires and seeing how their old habits clash with our society is simply a must. Impossibly funny and a total chillout. I haven’t seen such an entertaining series in a long while… hurray for What We Do in the Shadows! ()

Season 4 (2022) (S04) 

Engels I was torn between giving this season four or five stars. It's still entertaining, but the fun has dipped a bit compared to previous seasons. Colin Robinson absolutely steals the show, while Nadja, with her nightclub storyline, becomes annoyingly unbearable at times. The rest of the characters feel surprisingly secondary. Despite this, I'm still looking forward to the next season. I believe it's just a matter of picking better themes. The atmosphere and humor remain consistent. ()

Season 5 (2023) (S05) 

Engels Still holding up strong. The acting is masterful, and it’s easily some of the most reliable fun I've had in recent years. ()
