Engels This is simply an absolutely brutal cartoon and I have no idea why SpongeBob was passing me by for all those years. I may have been telling myself that I couldn’t understand how far the authors were willing to go with a fairy-tale because a talking sponge for washing the dishes who wears pants seemed to me too brutal an idea to entertain children. Now I actually feel that it’s for adults… I guess kids find their bits in it as well. I will play this to my own kids one day. ()

Engels Average and it only gets to those properly freaky limits in the second half. However, it is fair to say that David Hasselhoff is a gifted artist and an even more gifted swimmer. ()

Engels A Hero's Journey where the cadence of jokes doesn’t drop and my favorite animation plaything with air bubbles brings new ideas. If the naive sponge and dimwitted starfish were Frodo and Sam, then Motorboat Hasselhoff was the Eagle that got them to Bikini Bottom. By the way, it's an interesting swimming style. At the Olympics, he could have a showdown in the 100 meters freestyle with the Beast Rob Schneider. It's a shame the sepia cashier from the Krusty Krab got sidelined; his deadly sin of Wrath was very much missing. ()

Engels A clear choice for fans of the series. But it’s too much of a crazy cartoon for the rest of us. It wasn't bad in its day, but SpongeBob's humor hasn't really become immortal. However, the Nickelodeon Hall of Fame will be a part of the childhood memories of anyone who experienced SuperMax. ()
