Sky Rojo

I expected more from the creators of Money Heist. Sky Rojo boasts a somewhat crazy but innovative plot about three women escaping from pimps, which is a unique angle. However, the short series doesn’t offer much in terms of surprising storytelling; the characters’ actions are sometimes confusing and silly. Sure, one should approach it with a degree of leniency, but I still expected a somewhat more sophisticated experience. The characters are quite likable, but the main antagonist didn’t convince me much; at times, he was overacting to the point of causing eye strain. What might compel me to watch the second season is the high-quality visuals of Tenerife (the Spanish always know how to present it with a good dose of grace) and the solid soundtrack, which throws one great song after another at you (which I appreciate). We'll see what the second season brings. For now, it’s 6/10. (19.04.2021)

Slightly better than the first season, but it still falls short compared to Money Heist! You can't take the whole story too seriously because at its core, it's quite a silly watch, but it's a decent bite-sized distraction to fill your free time. The main girl trio is still great, and Wendy finally got a bit more screen time. Even the actor playing the main villain didn’t bother me as much this time—it seemed like he wasn’t overacting as much :D Compared to the first season, there’s a lot more action, with some blood and interesting twists. Money Heist is a more well-thought-out experience in every way, but even here, the Spaniards show they shouldn’t be underestimated. For me, it’s a 6.5/10. (26.08.2021)
