Dawson's Creek (1998) (serie)

Engels Probably the most underrated series I know and one of my favorites of all time. The first four seasons of the adventures of the Capeside gang will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I often come across the opinion that "it started off well, but then it wasn't the same". I see it differently, each season has its own energy. While the first season is more about exploring and testing the waters, the second and third seasons are the clear peak of the show's development, where emotions run deeper and relationships become more complex, especially in the third season where the conflict between the two best friends reaches its climax. The fourth season brings everyone to graduation and, most importantly, to emotional maturity, in a completely believable way. And here's where the problem arises. At that moment, when Joey and Dawson stand together by the open window and life outside their small town is calling, that should have been the end, and that's where they could have written "five years later" and come up with a final two-part episode. Unfortunately, the creators let the characters deal with their relationships in their own unique way even in Boston, and in doing so, they somewhat ruined Dawson's Creek. A lot of unremarkable supporting characters (who tend to unexpectedly and irreversibly disappear), dull repetition of previous plotlines, and disgustingly frequent changing of partners by the main characters - that's a brief description of the fifth and sixth seasons. There are very few moments that can save these two seasons from lethargy (the funeral and a series of sad memories in the fifth season, and the amazing episode with Pacey and Joey spending the night in a supermarket in the sixth), and it was close to becoming a disaster. Fortunately, the saving idea came with bringing back the forgotten Kevin Williamson for the series finale. He created a two-part episode that is unforgettable, one that follows up on the best episodes and brilliantly connects all the destinies. Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Jack, and Andie - I won't forget them.

X-Men 2 (2003)

Engels The singer reaches a climax of relationships and emotions, with characters from the past and present including very attractive deviations from various periods of comics and brings sufficiently Wolverine-like rough action and captivating finale at the dam. In comparison to the first part, certain intimacy has indeed been lost, but thanks to new characters or one inconspicuous transition to the other side of the barricade, Xavier's school once again reaches for perfection.

Hulk (2003)

Engels This is not an action comic, this is a deeply penetrating drama about the split personality and the consequences of one's own sins. And a little bit of a comic. What Ang Lee unleashes in the final half hour is a psychological bomb and the redeeming sacrifice from Betty helps cleanse the soul of the viewer. It's a shame that the majority of them were not yet prepared for such an experience at that time.

X-Men (2000)

Engels Incredible psychology with unconventional action, fascinating characters, the perfect Magneto, and above all, a truly unbeatable hero Wolverine, thanks to whom the series gained its soul. Bryan Singer ruled here for the first time, but not the last, as the comic book king.

Casablanca (1942)

Engels As time goes by... The most beautiful fate woman and the most charismatic cynic collided once and events occurred that changed not only the world around them, but also the world within them. And when it was revealed how small the whole world can be fatefully, the consequences were no less serious. I want to experience my own Casablanca and I want to become part of such a timeless duo. Even though I will never be Bogart and I will never be able to demonstrate courage and humanity so fundamentally. So feel free to curse clichés as you like. Because they all have their beginning and it is right here. In Casablanca, where refugees from all corners of the world flee during World War II...

Post Coitum (2004)

Engels Debacle and catastrophe that make it much easier to laugh at the level of Czech cinema again. Nero, Krajčo or Vondráčková should never play anywhere again because they are literally shameful and only increase the feeling of complete awkwardness with any emotional pseudomovement. Without Jiří Langmajer, it would be the biggest flop in recent years. I don't care what Jakubisko is trying to say, this form would not sell anything.

The Bourne Supremacy (2004)

Engels The simplest guide to return in royal style. Healthily combined hierarchy of opponents, even cooler approach and a flood of captivating and formally tousled action that has become the benchmark for every other action movie that borrowed a handheld camera. For the story, the biggest plus is definitely the cold-blooded duo Urban - Roden as a contrast to my favorite Pamela Landy. The fact that my heart rate immediately increases only when Jason appears on the street never ceases to amaze me.

Knight Rider (1982) (serie)

Engels Once upon a time, I used to come up with my own scenarios for new parts, where there was a new indestructible villain, Michael was even more stylish, and K.I.T.T. was even cooler. And my time will come someday.

MacGyver (1985) (serie)

Engels Unforgettable children's cult, which I rushed to daily after school, in anticipation, so I could see how the tied-up main hero escapes from the heavily guarded weapons factory using duct tape and a fan. And I actually watched the same thing a hundred times, knowing that the next day, I would be rushing to see it again.

Napoléon (2002) (serie)

Engels The level of co-production miniseries adaptations under French sponsorship has reached the end of its downward journey. And Gerard Depardieu was always a part of it. First with the fantastic Count of Monte Cristo, then with skillfully made Les Misérables, and finally with this striking qualitative decline. The fragmented dialogue and disjointed storyline are so evident that I literally pitied the perfect actors.
